SKIP – for allotment rubbish

We now have a skip for disposal of:

  1. Metals
  2. Plastics
  3. Glass
  4. Carpet

It is locked, so please bring your allotment rubbish only to the spot outside the EWAA Shop building this Sunday morning.

Do NOT bring:

  • Timber
  • Soil
  • Green/organic matter
  • Asbestos
  • Plaster board
  • Paint
  • Noxious substances

If you have any questions about rubbish, please ask either the Saturday or Sunday work party for advice.

2021-22 RENT IS NOW DUE!

There are still 60 plot-holders who have not paid their rent for 2021-22!

On October 4th the EWAA Treasurer sent a personalised email to each plot-holder, from email address ewaa.treasurer@gmail.com. The message contained instructions for paying the rent online to the allotment bank account.

If you did not receive an email please check your mailbox SPAM folder as soon as possible.

All rents must be paid by the end of the October.

Work Parties – help needed

This coming Saturday & Sunday, 10:00~12:00

We need volunteers to help with various jobs around the site:

  • Cut back brambles and vegetation
  • Clear communal paths and car parks
  • Pick litter

Sat 16th October & Sun 17th October between 10:00 & 12.00

Please meet at the shop and bring gloves and any useful tools: gloves secateurs, loppers, rakes and wheelbarrows.

If you know when you’re likely to join us please do respond to this message, but it’s fine to turn up on either day whenever you can make it.

Dear East Ward Plot-holders,

You’re invited to join us to celebrate the changing season and the re-launch of The Children’s Allotment.

We’ve been busy working on the site and we want to share our progress and plans for opening and activities for families coming up this Autumn!

Saturday 23rd October 13.00 – 15.30

With:
– Apple pressing & juice
– Homemade sourdough pizza oven
– Bonfire
– Outdoor play for children

Suggested donation £5 per family
Bring cash for the pizza oven!

Timber in the Shop

Are you building a raised bed? Do you need to repair your shed? Do you have plans for a fruit cage?

The EWAA Shop may have just the timber you’re looking for. The following items are currently in stock:

  • Kick board – 3.6 metres long
  • Feather edge – 2.4 metres long
  • Deck bearers – 6″ X 2″
  • Fruit cage posts – 3″ X 3″
  • Fruit cage rails – 3″ X 2″

No More Paper Towel

Because the used hand towels in the toilet block regularly spill out of the waste container and onto the floor, causing an unhygienic nuisance, the Committee has decided not to refill the paper towel dispenser beside the basin from now on.
