This weekend is the eightieth birthday of one of our longest serving plot holders, Stewart Young.
Stewart has had a plot with us for forty years and literally rescued the site, with others, in 1992 when the council threatened to close us down if we didn’t form a new committee.
He served as chairman for twelve years in the 2000’s.
He is a fine man, a gentleman, a great allotmenteer, always full of humour and good spirits even the face of adversity. He is a story teller of serious repute and put simply, wonderful company. He is brilliantly supported by his family on the plot.
Happy birthday Stewart! Long may you continue.
